Whitstable Vintage Lifeboat Trips

Sue, who was running the kiosk on the harbour... read more front, was lovely - so friendly and so helpful. The day we there was fully booked so we came back the next day and I'm so pleased we did. It was a wonderful half-hour trip around the bay in a beautiful 1940s lifeboat. It really brought home the bravery of those who volunteer for the RNLI - especially in an earlier era. This is a trip not to be missed.

  Unexpected and unplanned experiences are often the most memorable  - This was in no way on the itinerary, in fact our whole visit to Whitstable was an ad hoc decision purely based on the weather.

On walking around the... read more harbour we saw signs for the boat trips but in fear of a hardsell or expensive experience we kept our distance. However the person manning the hut spotted us, came over with a leaflet, told us the price and details on when the next boat was leaving. It felt like such a good deal that we extended our parking session and paid our £10pp straight away. Oh and even better, I got a fuss with the company dog too.

Seriously, how often do you get to go in a 1948 lifeboat for a 30min cruise over the oyster beds and along the coast. I just wish I'd worn a suitably vintage nautical outfit!
